When TSCL’s board of Trustees learned that the Federal Food and Drug Administration (FDA) was keeping under wraps a new policy initiative to regulate Complementary and Alternative Medicine (CAM) products that could adversely affect seniors’ Medicare and Social Security benefits, they decided to bring this concern to the FDA’s attention, and in order not to be caught unaware in the future, to launch the TSCL Seniors’ Health Initiative designed: (a) to monitor the federal government’s regulatory activities governing health care; and(b) to take action, as the Board from time to time authorizes, to protect the (sometimes unique) health care needs of America’s seniors.
