After a flurry of activity last week and over the weekend, Capitol Hill has been relatively quiet this week as Congress is in recess for the Veterans Day holiday until Monday November 16th.  However, the next few weeks are expected to be busy for The Senior Citizens League (TSCL) staff as the U.S. Senate continues its work on the proposed health care overhaul. 

The Senior Citizens League (TSCL) Board of Trustee members met in the Washington, D.C. area for the fourth time this year.

On Thursday October 29th, the Democratic leadership of the House of Representatives announced the introduction of H.R. 3962, the Affordable Health Care for America Act.

The Senior Citizens League (TSCL) staff was hard at work this week as they continued to monitor work on the proposed legislation to overhaul the U.S. health care system.  

The Senior Citizens League (TSCL) staff has been busy monitoring the status of several fiscal year 2010 appropriations bills as well as progress of proposed legislation to overhaul the U.S. health care system.

The Senior Citizens League (TSCL) representatives, including Former Congressman David Funderburk, Mrs. Betty Funderburk and Legislative Assistant Mike Watson were on Capitol Hill for numerous meetings with Members of Congress and their top staff this week. 

The Senior Citizens League (TSCL) staff has been hard at work this week as Congress continued its work on health care reform and the U.S. House of Representatives passed legislation that would freeze Medicare Part B monthly premiums for 2010 at the 2009 levels.

The Senior Citizens League (TSCL) was pleased to announce its support this week for legislation to provide Social Security beneficiaries an emergency Cost of Living Adjustment (COLA) for 2010. 

The Senior Citizens League (TSCL) would like to remind you that Congress will remain in recess until September 8th.  As such, there was little activity on Capitol Hill this week.

The Senior Citizens League (TSCL) is pleased to report that the United States Senate has voted to allow the importation of lower cost prescription drugs from Canada.

The Senior Citizens League (TSCL) staff has been very busy preparing for the Board of Trustees visit to Washington.  The TSCL Board of Trustees will be in Washington D.C. to meet with Members of Congress next week.

It was a busy week for Congress as they returned to Capitol Hill on Monday after their week long district work period.  Several committees continued their work on legislation that would reform the health care system.
